Michael Jackson 1958-2009
Let me start off by saying that I wanted to do this the other day but I felt that I really wasn't ready to write about someone who has impacted my life so emencly . My feelings were expressing to me that I needed to really feel the loss of this man before I could truly express my thoughts. Plus I knew that there would be an out pouring of peoples emotions on the day, and the days following his death, so I needed to do this when I felt the time was right, not right away.
With that said somehow I still feel that it is hard for me to put into words how I am feeling deep down inside. Where do you begin when music is the gravitational pull in your life, and one of the major forces of that pull is gone. So many memories come flooding into my mind when I begin to think about Mr. Jackson. Like when I was a little girl and I would stay up and watch VH1 all the time just to see his videos. Or how I would rock the one curl in front and do my impression of the King of Pop. what I loved most about him,was that he was a light! I was a child who had to grow up around the harsh words of hate and racism. The slander and the pure evil that was expressed from some of my family would tear at my soul. Yet Michael Jackson's music was a healing band aid to my injured heart. I knew that there were other people in this world who felt about hatred the way I did. I knew that God put all people on this planet to love one another, and through one of my favorite venues, music, he proved me right. I would watch free willy over and over again just to hear some of Michael's songs in the movie and hear his song at the end. I loved all the stages of Michael from the Jackson 5 days, to the Afro big nose Michael, to the Jerry curl and finally to the perm.. lol Michael Jackson's music crossed over every generation, and lasted. Never did his spot light fade!
When one single person can effect the whole world the way this man does, how can you not see the power in our souls. The power that is deep within us, that when we let it out we can literally change the world. Michael Jackson has been doing that since he was a child. He changed peoples views, he changed peoples thoughts and I am sure he change a few peoples choice of action. Racism was a raging fire of hate when Michael was a child, but through his gift he found a way to bring people together. I believe once he saw what he could do with his talents that started a whole nother fire deep within him. He knew that he could bring positivity to this planet and he did just that. I am not saying that he was a saint but I am saying that he was given to us for a reason and a purpose and he fulfilled that purpose.
Some people want to sit around and point their fingers on all the wrong that he did, and the scandals he was involved in. Yet he made it very clear that he was just human, and like you and me he was not perfect. Wasn't it Jesus that said "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone"So many of us are sinners there for basically if you cant say anything nice, say nothing at all. focus on the positive and respect the man the legend and his mourning family.
I pray that all of us see how we can influence our human race. We may not be able to touch as many lives as Michael did but just by touching and effecting one life can make a ripple effect that continues for many many years to come. so what will be your one I self contribution to this world?
God Bless you Michael Jackson, and Thank you.. from me.. for your music and your soul!

Here She comes!
Amerie is back, and to be so very truthful this track is summer fire! Ive thougth very highly of Amerie since she dropped her first single, Why dont we fall in love. That was yet another summer smash.
I love the fact that she ties in here DC roots in her beats. You can hear the city rhythem pounding out of the speakers, with the soultry sound of her voice lacing the track perfectly.
Now it seems that in the RnB world the women are steppin their game up, and coming with some true talent. We have Keri Hilson, Ciara, and Beyonce all comin with the tripple talent theme. What i am waiting for is Alicia's new album, shell kill them all!
